There's some of the options I've found or come up with thus far, but I'm incredibly interested to hear what you would do with the ability to cast silent image (and/or disguise self) at will. Making the appearance of someone police sketch artist style to help identify them to others. Pretending to be a more powerful spellcaster by making illusory spell effects. The ever-debated fog-cloud for heavily obscured hidey-holes option, aka just hiding inside of illusions.Īrea denial in combat by making fake acid pools or something. Even more bonus points if I make an illusory creature "walk" through said fake door, to really confuse people. Bonus points if I can hide an actual door and put a fake just next to it to confuse enemies. Making an illusory door (preferably an open one) on a wall just for the laughs I can get from watching people try to walk through it. (best part about this is that a detect magic only reveals that you and all of the silent images are sources of illusion magic.)ĭisguising dangerous terrain with silent image, aka making a fake bridge, covering pit traps, or making the top of a staircase look like it's a few feet out from where it actually starts, so people try to step out on a stair, but their foot just drops through it and they tumble down. Using silent image to make illusory guards of some manner, and minor illusion to give them some sounds to make them more realistic to spook away a fight, or even comboing with disguise self to blend in as one amidst a crowd of illusions. Alternatively using silent image to make battle maps, with illusory pieces moving about to help plan anything, really. Looking through familiar's senses, and then using silent image to make a smaller illusory duplicate of what you saw to help plan out the best course of action in secret. Think you're being followed? Duck into an alley, disguise self into anyone else, and then silent image an illusion of you walking away, either escaping or tailing after the one tailing your illusory copy. Using silent image to copy text or images onto another piece of paper and then just tracing over the illusion for some easier forgery work. I'm interested in some cool and creative uses for these abilities, and would love to hear what you've got. That said, I've got two of the most fun invocations for this roleplay-heavy campaign, Mask of Many Faces, and Misty Visions.
